DEEPSEEK
AI. com Now Belongs to DeepSeek, That’s Huge

For years, AI. com has been the most valuable mystery domain in artificial intelligence. It used to point to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, then Elon Musk’s xAI. But now? It redirects to DeepSeek a Chinese AI startup that’s been making serious waves.
Here’s why this matters:
A Silent Endorsement? Whoever owns AI. com just gave DeepSeek a massive signal boost. This domain has only ever pointed to top AI players, so DeepSeek landing it is no small deal.
DeepSeek’s Meteoric Rise: In just a few weeks, DeepSeek’s chatbot app hit 21 million daily active users, outpacing ChatGPT’s early growth.
Server Struggles: Demand has been so high that DeepSeek had to pause API top-ups last week and limit free users.
Price Hike: They just doubled their API pricing, but it’s still a fraction of what OpenAI and Anthropic charge.
China’s AI Power Play: DeepSeek’s models are competitive with top US AI models but trained at a fraction of the cost. That’s got everyone—from Sam Altman to Donald Trump paying attention.
Here’s what I think:
AI. com isn’t just a domain, it’s a statement. And right now, it’s saying DeepSeek is the next big thing in AI. Whether it’s a business deal or a strategic move, this puts DeepSeek front and center in the global AI race.

FRANCE
France’s $112B AI Move: Is It Their Stargate Moment?

AI is heating up, and France just threw down a massive bet. President Emmanuel Macron announced a €109 billion ($112 billion) AI investment package, and he wants the world to take notice.
Here’s what’s happening:
Paris is hosting the AI Action Summit, and Macron used the moment to unveil this massive investment plan.
He’s calling it France’s answer to Stargate, the $500 billion U.S. AI push. (France has 5x fewer people than the U.S., so he says the numbers track.)
The money is coming from big players the UAE, Canada’s Brookfield, France’s Bpifrance, and telecom giant Iliad. So far, the tally is €83 billion ($85 billion), with more on the way.
Most of it will go into AI-focused data centers. That’s the infrastructure needed to train and run massive AI models.
French AI startups like Mistral (one of Europe’s top OpenAI competitors) are also stepping up, investing billions in new AI clusters.
France has a nuclear power advantage low-carbon, stable electricity that AI companies need for their energy-hungry data centers.
Here’s what I think:
France is making a serious play to be a global AI powerhouse. The nuclear energy angle is smart, and they’re throwing real money at the problem. But the real test? Can they keep top AI startups from moving to the U.S.? That’s the billion-euro question.
What do you think? Can France keep up in the AI race?
