Study: Why scaling AI might be useless. What's next? Dive in
"AI is likely to be either the best or worst thing to happen to humanity." Stephen Hawking.
With AI agents now writing code, powering virtual cameras, and stirring up competition in China, it's clear we’re living through the most interesting tech shift in decades.

NVIDIA
The age of personal AI computers is here (no, seriously)

So, Nvidia showed up to GTC 2025 and pretty much said: “Hey, your current computer? It’s cute, but we’ve got something wilder.”
They introduced two new machines that sound like they belong in a sci-fi movie: DGX Spark and DGX Station. Don’t worry, they’re not meant to replace your laptop (yet) these are meant for folks building and experimenting with AI at a serious level.
Here’s everything you need to know:
DGX Spark is the smaller of the two, but still insanely powerful. Think 1,000 trillion operations per second. It runs on Nvidia’s new GB10 Grace Blackwell chip.
DGX Station is the bigger sibling. It packs even more power with a GB300 Ultra chip and 784GB of memory basically, a rocket launcher for AI experiments.
Spark is already available. DGX Station drops later this year via brands like Dell, HP, and Lenovo.
The goal? Let developers and companies run and tweak AI models right at their desk no data center needed.
Nvidia’s CEO said these machines are what the future of computing looks like. And, honestly? He might be onto something.
Here’s what I think:
Big picture? Nvidia’s not just selling machines they’re pushing a shift in how AI is built and used. Instead of waiting around for cloud servers to do the heavy lifting, we might soon be training our own mini-AIs right next to the coffee mug on our desk.

AI
AI’s big spenders might be running in circles

For years, tech giants have believed that if they just kept building bigger data centers and throwing more money at AI, they'd eventually hit artificial general intelligence (AGI) basically, an AI that can think like a human.
But here’s the twist:
A survey of 475 AI researchers found that 76% believe scaling current AI won't lead to AGI.
Big players like Microsoft are still doubling down—$80 billion committed to AI infrastructure in 2025 alone.
Energy costs? Microsoft is literally powering some of its data centers with a nuclear plant.
Meanwhile, some startups are getting smarter, not bigger. Like DeepSeek from China, whose AI can rival top models without the monster budgets.
Even OpenAI and Google admit the easy gains are gone. New models are improving less and costing more.
Alternatives like test-time compute and mixture of experts (where many smaller models work together) are promising—but no magic bullet yet.
Here’s what I think:
The AI race feels a bit like buying louder speakers when no one knows the song. Scaling might’ve worked before, but the game’s changing. The future might belong to the clever underdogs—not the loudest spenders.
STABILITY AI
This new AI tool turns flat photos into moving 3D scenes no camera crew needed

Okay, this one’s wild.
Stability AI just dropped something called Stable Virtual Camera, and it can take any 2D image like a photo or illustration—and turn it into a moving 3D video. As in, you can “walk around” the image like it’s a movie set.
Here’s how it works (and why it’s cool):
You only need one image, and the tool builds multiple angles using AI magic.
No need for fancy gear or real 3D modeling. The AI figures out depth and shape and builds a scene that looks real(ish).
You can move the “camera” however you want zoom in, orbit around, even spiral through.
It supports vertical and widescreen videos, so TikTok or movie theater your call.
The tool is open-source for now (non-commercial), so if you’re techy, you can play with it directly from GitHub.
It’s not perfect faces, animals, and chaotic stuff like water can glitch out. Sometimes it looks more horror movie than Hollywood.
Here’s what I think:
This isn’t just a gimmick. If it holds up, it could give creators especially solo ones a way to make cinematic shots without big teams or budgets. Sure, it might not replace pro tools yet, but it's a fun sign of where AI and storytelling are headed.
AI AGENTS
AI agents are quietly taking over your office (and doing it better)
The next wave of AI isn’t just smart it works for you. Meet AI agents: little software bots that don’t just chat they do.
Think of them as assistants that don’t need sleep, skip meetings, and finish tasks before your coffee brews.
Here’s where they’re making moves:
Coding like pros: Tools like Devin and new models from OpenAI now solve complex software tasks. They’re already managing bug fixes and rewriting ancient code like it’s nothing.
Admin ninjas: Law firms and finance companies are using agents to read docs, find info, and file it all without breaking a sweat. Some firms are seeing 90% of their document work automated.
Customer support that actually helps: Agents are now smart enough to dig through huge datasets and give accurate info without getting confused by company name doppelgängers.
Content creators: From risk reports to marketing blurbs, agents can now write and update content at scale with humans just cleaning it up.
HR helpdesk heroes: Agents answer common employee questions, manage internal docs, and help HR teams move faster without losing their minds.
Here’s what I think:
These bots are showing up in nearly every corner of the office. But while they’re great at speeding things up, there’s still a need to keep an eye on them especially when mistakes can mean legal trouble. Done right, though? It’s the biggest office glow-up we’ve seen in years.
TENCENT
China’s AI race just got spicy: Tencent drops T1, Manus makes a bold move
It’s been a big week for China’s AI scene—and things are heating up fast.
Tencent just launched its T1 model, which is all about faster answers, better logic in long texts, and fewer hallucinations (aka made-up stuff). They say it’s cleaner, sharper, and smarter than its last version and even beats DeepSeek’s model in some key areas.
But Tencent’s not the only one making noise:
T1 is powered by Turbo S, Tencent’s new language model engine from February.
It’s already out in the wild through Tencent’s AI assistant Yuanbao.
Tencent is also upping its AI spending big time in 2025.
Meanwhile, Manus, a rising Chinese startup, launched its own AI agent the same day claiming it’s the first general AI agent that makes decisions on its own with barely any prompts.
That agent went viral, got prime airtime on Chinese state TV, and even cleared key regulatory hurdles.
Oh, and there’s a 2 million-person waitlist to try it.
Here’s what I think:
The AI race in China isn’t just about tech it’s a power play. Tencent's flexing its muscle, but Manus is punching up and landing blows. With Beijing backing homegrown talent, we might see the rise of a few unexpected giants.
