Apple in talks with Google:
Apple's in talks with Google to embed Gemini AI into iPhones via iOS 18, reveals Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
They're figuring out how to integrate Google's AI into iPhone features for the upcoming iOS update.
While they hash out details, Apple's also enhancing its iPhone OS with new AI skills, prioritizing offline capabilities.
Yet, they're eyeing Google's tech for cloud-based AI tasks like generating images or writing from prompts, since Google has the robust tech infrastructure Apple needs.
Despite developing its own AI and investing heavily in AI research, Apple might lean on Google's expertise, given its current tech isn't as advanced.
If this Google deal doesn't pan out, Apple may explore other AI partnerships. This collaboration could offset challenges from their search engine deal, under scrutiny for antitrust concerns.

Grok AI open-sourced:
Elon Musk's xAI has released the core code of its Grok AI, a 314 billion parameter Mixture-of-Expert model, without the training instructions.
This move allows developers to adapt Grok without confining it to specific tasks. Although Grok-1 wasn't built with a particular focus, it operates on a unique tech stack, under a license that supports commercial endeavors.
Recently, Musk hinted on X about unveiling Grok's code.
Last year, xAI launched Grok as a chatbot for X's Premium+ members, though the open-source version lacks X network integration.
The AI community, including giants like Meta and Google, often shares their models, enhancing the tech landscape.
With Grok's code now public, companies are exploring its potential, like Perplexity, aiming to refine it for conversational search for their Pro users.
Meanwhile, Musk is entangled in a legal dispute with OpenAI, criticizing its shift from its original non-profit ethos, particularly targeting its leadership on social platforms.
