DARPA built the first self-driving car challenge in 2004.

The best-performing vehicle? Crashed after 7.4 miles.

Now? Teslas drive across the country while you nap.

That’s 20 years of insane progress.

BREAKTHROUGH

Canva just introduced its boldest update yet

It’s not just a design tool anymore. It’s shaping up to be the operating system for visual work.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Everything in one format: Slides, docs, videos, whiteboards, spreadsheets, and websites—all built inside Canva. No more bouncing between apps.

  • Canva Sheets: A lightweight spreadsheet tool with AI built in. Ask questions in plain English, and it analyzes the data for you. Bonus: it actually looks good.

  • Smarter content workflows: With Magic Studio, you can autofill, translate, resize, and localize content at scale. Great for teams working across regions.

  • Live data + charts: Connect tools like Google Analytics or Snowflake. Canva turns the data into clean, editable charts instantly.

  • AI-first design flow: Describe what you want, and Canva generates a draft—slides, social posts, even videos. You refine from there.

  • Canva Code: Create simple web apps like forms or calculators using natural language. No dev needed.

  • Image editing, simplified: One-click background removal, object swaps, and automatic resizing for every platform.

Here’s what I think:

This looks like Canva’s iPhone moment. It’s no longer a tool you open after the work is done. It’s where the work starts.

Upgrade

ChatGPT just got a memory boost (and yes, it remembers now)

Until now, every new chat with ChatGPT felt like meeting it for the first time. That’s about to change.

OpenAI just rolled out a major update: long-term memory.

Here’s what that means in simple terms:

  • It remembers things you didn’t save: Even if you didn’t ask it to remember something, it can now reference old chats to answer better in the future.

  • Two types of memory: One is what you manually tell it to save. The other is what it learns from past conversations automatically.

  • Optional, not forced: Don’t want it to remember anything? You can turn memory off in the settings or use a temporary chat mode that forgets everything after you close it.

  • Who gets it? Pro users (paying $200/month) have it now. $20/month Plus users will get it “soon.” It’ll also roll out to Team, Enterprise, and Edu accounts in a few weeks.

  • Not available in some places: If you’re in the EU, UK, or a few other countries, this update isn’t coming your way likely due to strict privacy laws.

  • Feels familiar? Google’s Gemini did something similar in February. AI tools are moving fast toward knowing us better with or without us asking.

Here’s what I think:

This update makes ChatGPT feel more like a real assistant than a search box. But the fact that it learns passively? That’s going to raise a few eyebrows.

Update

Microsoft is bringing back the feature it had to pull

Last year, Microsoft introduced something called Recall a feature that quietly took screenshots of everything you did on your PC to help you “remember” where you saw what.

It sounded smart. It also freaked people out.

After a big wave of privacy backlash, Microsoft hit pause. Now, after some changes and testing, they’re bringing it back.

Here’s what to know:

  • What it does: Recall takes periodic snapshots of your screen. Then you can search your activity just by describing it: “that spreadsheet from Tuesday,” or “the dog photo from Chrome.”

  • AI powers the recall: It runs on Copilot+ PCs using built-in AI to make your search smarter and faster.

  • Privacy is (supposedly) better: You have to opt-in. Snapshots are stored locally. And you’ll need to use Windows Hello (face or fingerprint) to access them so only you can view what’s saved.

  • Where it’s rolling out: For now, just to Windows Insider users running Windows 11 on Copilot Plus machines. But Microsoft says this is the beginning of a wider release.

  • Why the delay?: When it launched last time, users weren’t buying the “private and secure” part. Microsoft pulled it and said it needed more testing and feedback from the community.

Here’s what I think:

This could be one of the most useful (or invasive) features Microsoft has ever shipped. Depends on how much you trust it to remember your digital life for your eyes only.
