Claude for education is here...
And the new feature "Learning mode" is pretty helpful. What's next? Dive in.

AI won’t end humanity.
Mediocrity will.
AI just exposes how average most people operate and rewards those who can think clearly and move fast.

Claude for education and its pretty decent…

You know how students usually use AI to cheat on essays or skip the hard parts? Well, someone finally asked: What if the AI didn’t just hand over the answers? What if it made you think?
That’s the whole idea behind “Claude for Education,” a new spin on Claude that’s been dropped into campuses like Northeastern, LSE, and Champlain College. It’s not here to do your homework. It’s here to challenge your brain.
Here’s what it’s doing:
Learning Mode is the big thing. Claude won’t just tell you the answer. It’ll ask questions back like, “What makes you think that?” or “What would be your next step?” Basically, it’s the AI version of your annoying-but-smart professor.
Students can use Claude to draft papers, get feedback, or make sense of calculus without shortcuts.
Professors use it to build rubrics, give better feedback, and whip up practice problems in seconds.
Admins? They’re using Claude to untangle policy docs, answer a flood of emails, and make enrollment data actually readable.
There’s even a Campus Ambassador program and API credits for students building cool stuff.
And this isn’t some pilot test. Northeastern is already rolling it out to 50,000 students. LSE and Champlain too. They’re serious.
Here’s what I think:
This is the first time AI on campus isn’t about replacing thought it’s about training it. If Claude works like it says it does, this could actually make school...smarter.

Claude Introduced the Idea That AI Can Write… But Can It Really Be Creative?

Let’s be real…generative AI is impressive. It writes, it codes, it even cracks jokes (kind of). But can it actually create in the way a human does? That’s where things get murky.
David Poole, a computer science professor who’s been in the AI game for decades, says nope. And here’s why:
AI like ChatGPT or Claude works by predicting the next word in a sentence based on tons of stuff it’s already seen. It's like a really clever parrot with Wi-Fi.
That means it doesn’t know what it’s writing it’s just remixing patterns from its training data. The creativity? That’s coming from the data, not the model.
When people say an LLM is being creative, they’re often just surprised a machine can sound human. But sounding clever isn’t the same as being creative.
Real writers have intent. They care about what they’re saying and how. A language model is trying to guess what someone else might say.
There are ways LLMs help like brainstorming, writing outlines, or editing rough drafts. But they need human direction. Otherwise, they just wander.
Here’s what I think:
AI might be able to fake creativity, but it can’t feel it. It doesn’t have taste, instincts, or an original point of view. So no, it’s not coming for your novel anytime soon—but it can help you write the first awkward draft.
Teamwork
AI Might Be Your Next Teammate (And It’s Weirdly Good at It)

Working with someone who actually listens, never takes credit, and gets the job done fast? Sounds like a dream teammate. Turns out… it might be AI.
Here’s what a new study found:
At Procter & Gamble, researchers ran an experiment with 776 employees. Some worked solo, some in pairs, and some teamed up with AI.
The wild part? One person with AI performed just as well as two humans without it.
Not only did the AI-helped group produce better ideas, they also worked faster. Solo workers with AI shaved off over 16% of their work time.
More surprising: AI broke down the usual “stay-in-your-lane” thinking. People started suggesting ideas outside their own departments—tech folks thought about markets, marketers pitched technical ideas.
Even less experienced employees matched the performance of their senior peers just by using AI.
The AI group didn’t just outperform they actually felt better about the work too. So yeah, AI might also double as emotional support.
Here’s what I think:
This isn’t about robots replacing humans. It’s about AI helping people think wider, work faster, and maybe even feel better doing it. If one person and one AI can do what used to take two humans… companies might need to rethink what a “team” really means.
