Google Gemini can recall now!
GPT-5 is coming soon and its a good news and also a bad news. What's next? Dive in
In 2022, AI chatbots were clunky.
In 2025, they sound almost human.
In 2026? Who knows.
Tim Urban said it best:
"The curve of progress is about to go vertical."
We’re not just in the future, we’re speeding into it.
In today’s post:
Google: Gemini recall

Google’s Gemini Just Got a Memory Boost But Will You Use It?

Google Gemini just got a memory upgrade. Instead of treating every chat like a fresh start, it can now remember past conversations and tailor responses based on what you’ve said before.
Here’s what’s new:
Chat recall is live for Google One AI Premium subscribers ($20/month) in English, with more languages and enterprise accounts coming soon.
It can summarize past conversations, so you don’t have to dig through old threads.
You control your chat history. You can review, delete, or turn off the recall feature in the “My Activity” page. Google also says it won’t use your chats to train AI models.
Here’s what I think:
This is a big step toward making AI feel more personal. OpenAI is also working on memory for ChatGPT, so we’re seeing a trend. But memory in AI is a double-edged sword super convenient, but also raises privacy concerns.
Would you let an AI remember your chats, or is that a hard no?

OpenAI’s Plans for GPT-5: What’s Coming Next?
OPENAI ROADMAP UPDATE FOR GPT-4.5 and GPT-5:
We want to do a better job of sharing our intended roadmap, and a much better job simplifying our product offerings.
We want AI to “just work” for you; we realize how complicated our model and product offerings have gotten.

OpenAI is gearing up for some big AI upgrades, and CEO Sam Altman just laid out the roadmap. The company is planning to launch GPT-4.5 (codenamed Orion) and GPT-5, with a focus on making AI smarter and simpler to use.
Here’s what’s happening:
GPT-4.5 is coming first and will be OpenAI’s last model without advanced “chain-of-thought” reasoning.
GPT-5 will unify OpenAI’s AI models, combining their tools into a system that “just works” without users needing to pick a model manually.
Subscription tiers are changing. Free ChatGPT users will get unlimited access at a standard level, while Plus and Pro users will get access to smarter versions of GPT-5.
No exact release date yet, but Altman says we’re looking at “weeks / months.”
Here’s what I think:
OpenAI clearly wants to make AI more intuitive and seamless. If they can pull it off, we might finally get an AI that feels less like a chatbot and more like a personal assistant that actually understands context. But with Elon Musk now trying to buy OpenAI’s nonprofit arm for $97.4 billion, things could get interesting real fast.
What do you think, will GPT-5 change the game, or is it just another upgrade?
CHATGPT
OpenAI Removes Content Warnings from ChatGPT
ChatGPT just got a little less... cautious. OpenAI has removed the “orange box” content warnings that used to pop up when a response might violate its terms of service.
Here’s what’s changing:
No more warning messages. OpenAI says it wants to reduce unnecessary refusals and make ChatGPT feel more open-ended.
You can “use ChatGPT as you see fit”—as long as it’s legal and not harmful.
It’s not a free-for-all. The chatbot will still refuse certain topics, like misinformation or harmful content.
Possible political pressure? Some believe this move responds to criticism that ChatGPT was too filtered, especially from figures like Elon Musk and David Sacks.
OpenAI also updated its Model Spec, making it clear the chatbot won’t avoid sensitive topics or shut out certain viewpoints.
Here’s what I think:
This is a fascinating shift. AI companies have struggled to balance openness vs. responsibility, and OpenAI seems to be adjusting its stance. Removing content warnings might make ChatGPT feel more natural, but it also raises a bigger question where should AI draw the line?
What do you think…good move or risky change?
Instagram Is Testing a ‘Dislike’ Button for Comments

Instagram is finally giving users a way to downvote comments—but don’t expect to see a public dislike count.
Here’s what’s happening:
Instagram is testing a private “dislike” button on comments for both Feed posts and Reels.
Your dislikes are invisible. No one (including the comment’s author) will know if you downvoted.
Dislikes may affect comment ranking. Eventually, comments with a lot of dislikes might get pushed lower in the thread.
Meta says it’s about improving comment quality, giving users more control over their Instagram experience.
Here’s what I think:
This feels like Instagram borrowing from Reddit’s playbook. A private dislike button could help filter out irrelevant or toxic comments, but it also depends on how much weight Meta gives these votes. If dislikes shape comment sections without turning into a tool for brigading, it might actually be a solid improvement.
Would you use the dislike button, or do you think Instagram should just stick to likes?

YouTube Shorts Adds AI Video Generation

YouTube Shorts is stepping up its AI game. Creators can now use Veo 2, Google DeepMind’s latest video model, to generate entire AI-powered video clips for their Shorts.
Here’s what’s happening:
Veo 2 is Google’s response to OpenAI’s Sora, bringing more advanced AI video generation to YouTube.
It builds on Dream Screen, which already let users generate AI backgrounds now, you can create full video clips.
Better realism & style control. Google says Veo 2 understands physics and movement better, making videos look more natural.
AI-generated videos will be watermarked. DeepMind’s SynthID will tag AI clips, and YouTube will label them to prevent misinformation.
The feature is rolling out in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with more regions coming later.
Here’s what I think:
AI video tools are evolving fast, and this move cements YouTube Shorts as a serious player in AI-generated content. The big question? How will people use it creatively or to spread misleading content? YouTube’s AI labeling is a step in the right direction, but enforcement will be key.
