Google Launches Gemini App for iOS Worldwide
Gemini App in Apple Store
Today, Google finally rolled out a dedicated Gemini app for iOS users everywhere, letting them chat with its AI assistant without having to use the Google app or a browser.
Here’s what’s new with Gemini on iOS:
Language Options Galore: The app supports text prompts in 35 languages. Plus, the Gemini Live feature lets users have real-time conversations in 12 languages, including English, Spanish, Hindi, German, and more.
Image Generation: The app integrates Google’s Imagen 3 model, allowing users to generate images directly in-app. Recently, Google reintroduced the ability to generate images of people after pausing it to address historical inaccuracies.
Deep Google Integration: With extensions, users can now pull data from their other Google accounts like Gmail, Maps, and Calendar. Just ask Gemini to help with tasks or info across these apps.
A Growing Global Presence: Gemini initially launched on Android in the U.S. and Europe, followed by rollouts in India and South Asia with support for local languages. Now iOS users around the world get to join the Gemini experience too.
Meanwhile, Apple is also integrating AI into Siri, with ChatGPT support currently in iOS 18.2’s beta. This move signals Apple’s openness to future collaborations with models like Google’s Gemini, as hinted by Craig Federighi at Apple’s WWDC.

OpenAI on “AI Agents“ launch
Here’s what we know so far:
OpenAI is set to launch its own AI agent, code-named “Operator,” as early as January, according to Bloomberg.
This tool could handle tasks directly on your computer, making it a potential game-changer. Operator will start as a research preview through OpenAI’s API for developers.
Why should you care? Well, Operator could go beyond current AI assistants by actually doing things for you on your device not just giving answers.
Imagine if you could tell it to organize your files, draft emails, or handle repetitive online tasks without lifting a finger.
I’ve been waiting for something like this a real AI “doer” that takes the drudgery off my hands.
It’s also interesting timing: OpenAI released a policy paper suggesting the U.S. establish “AI economic zones” and form a competitive bloc with allies against China in AI development. With Operator, OpenAI might just bring AI out of the abstract and into your day-to-day life in a practical, game-changing way. I, for one, can’t wait to see what it can do. What about you?
