Apple’s image generation app didn’t quite land. Now it’s getting a reboot powered by ChatGPT.

When Image Playground launched, users were underwhelmed by its cartoonish results.
Some even called it “juvenile” compared to tools like Midjourney or DALL·E.
Common complaints: six-fingered hands, unresponsive prompts, and limited styles.
At WWDC, Apple announced a fix: a new integration with ChatGPT.
Users can now generate images in richer styles like Oil Painting, Anime, and Vector.
A new “Any Style” option lets you describe what you want — no presets required.
Apple says descriptions are sent to ChatGPT only with your permission.
Here’s what I think:
Apple doesn’t usually do do-overs so this is telling. Rather than let Image Playground fade out, they’re folding in OpenAI’s tech to save it. It’s not just about better pictures. It’s a signal that Apple’s AI strategy may hinge on partnerships more than pure invention. Will users bite this time?

Auto-collages might be Pinterest’s smartest ad feature yet

Pinterest is testing a new AI tool for advertisers. It’s fast, visual, and designed with Gen Z in mind.
The feature is called “auto-collages” AI-generated, shoppable collections from product catalogs.
It lets advertisers turn listings into stylized visuals with zero manual design work.
Pinterest says Gen Z loves collages, with tens of millions already created by users. Early tests show auto-collages are saved at twice the rate of standard product Pins.
The AI groups products based on style, trends, and user engagement patterns.
It can generate outfits, find similar items, and even mirror popular user collages. Pinterest is also upgrading its Trends tool to help brands spot what’s gaining traction.
Here’s what I think:
This isn’t just about making ads prettier. Pinterest is quietly building a system where AI handles both content creation and content targeting a full loop. For brands, that’s powerful. For users, it’s subtle. And that combo is exactly why it might work.

The Browser Company just launched Dia and it’s all-in on AI

Arc was clever but niche. Now, The Browser Company is betting big with something bolder: Dia.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Dia is a new AI-first browser, now in beta with invite-only access.
It replaces tabs and toolbars with an interface centered around an AI chatbot.
Built on Chromium, it keeps the feel of Chrome but adds a layer of intelligence. The chatbot can summarize files, search the web, write drafts, and analyze open tabs.
You can tweak its voice, tone, and even have it code custom shortcuts via “Skills.”
A History opt-in lets Dia use a week of browsing activity to improve responses.
Arc users get access first, and Dia users can invite others to join.
Here’s what I think:
Dia isn’t just a browser with AI it’s a bet that the browser is the AI. If this works, the interface we use to access the internet could shift from search bars and links to conversations and commands. Whether that’s empowering or disorienting depends on how much control users really get.
