SUKI

Suki Secures $70M to Boost AI Assistants for Healthcare Providers

Suki, an AI startup focused on healthcare, just secured $70 million in Series D funding to expand its AI-powered assistants for hospitals and clinics.

Led by Hedosophia, with contributions from Venrock and March Capital, this round pushes Suki’s total funding to $165 million and reportedly values the company at about $500 million.

What Suki Does

Founded in 2017 by Punit Soni, a former Google and Flipkart executive, Suki aims to ease healthcare providers’ administrative burdens with AI voice assistants. Its main products, Suki Assistant and Suki Platform, are designed to streamline clinical tasks, allowing doctors to focus more on patient care. Suki’s assistants have gained traction as more healthcare systems adopt generative AI for documentation and support.

  • Broad EHR Integration: Suki’s AI assistants connect seamlessly with leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic, Oracle’s Cerner, Athena, and MEDITECH, giving it an edge in compatibility.

  • Growing Demand for AI in Healthcare: According to Soni, the recent AI surge has made nearly every health system look for an AI strategy. Suki has capitalized on this trend, forming partnerships with over a dozen healthcare providers.

How the New Funding Will Be Used

The recent funding will help Suki accelerate product development, adding more advanced features to its AI assistants and tools to manage multiple AI models. With Microsoft’s Nuance (Dragon Medical One) as a competitor, along with startups like Abridge, Suki aims to stay competitive by broadening its toolset and enhancing usability for healthcare providers.

Microsoft new tools

Microsoft new tools for doctors and nurses

Microsoft has introduced a suite of healthcare AI tools designed to help medical staff by automating documentation and enhancing data analysis, announced Thursday.

These tools, which include medical imaging models, AI-powered health agents, and an automated nurse documentation system, aim to reduce burnout and improve efficiency in healthcare settings.

  • Advanced Imaging Models:

Microsoft’s new AI models, available through Azure AI Studio, assist healthcare providers in analyzing medical images, clinical records, and genomic data. Hospitals can use these tools to develop applications tailored to their needs.

  • Healthcare-Specific AI Agents:

Via Microsoft Copilot Studio, health systems can create AI agents that answer medical questions, automate tasks, and provide evidence-backed clinical recommendations. This service is in preview, helping doctors and staff save time on research and administrative tasks.

  • Automated Documentation for Nurses: Expanding on the popular DAX Copilot tool for doctors, Microsoft is developing an AI documentation tool customized for nurses. Created in partnership with Epic, this tool aims to reduce time spent on record-keeping, freeing nurses to focus more on patient care.
