Microsoft Copilot is pretty useful
And Midjourney launched a new model that is scary good. What's next? Dive in
Every photo you've uploaded since 2010 is probably in someone's AI training dataset.
You didn’t agree.
You weren’t asked.
But you gave it away for free.
The cost of “free platforms” is everything you are.
In today’s post:
Microsoft: Copilot 2.0
Midjourney: New model v7

Microsoft
Microsoft’s Copilot just got real hands-on

You know that feeling when tech finally starts doing the boring stuff for you? Well, Microsoft’s Copilot is getting pretty close.
Here’s what’s new:
It can now actually do stuff on websites. Like booking tables, buying flowers, or sending you flight options without you lifting a finger.
It remembers your go-to food, favorite movies, and probably how you take your coffee. (You can turn that off, btw.)
It watches your phone’s camera feed and answers questions about what it sees. “What’s this weird plant?” Boom answered.
It checks for price drops and sales online. Like a deal-hunting assistant that never sleeps.
On Windows, it’ll soon be able to glance at your desktop and help you search, adjust settings, or move files around.
It makes podcasts too little back-and-forth convos summarizing stuff from websites or studies.
There's a “Pages” feature now that pulls your notes into one place and helps organize them into a doc. Think of it like a mess-to-clean-draft machine.
And yeah, it’ll dig deep across the internet (and files) to answer your long-winded, late-night questions.
Here’s what I think:
Microsoft’s finally giving Copilot some real agency. It’s not just a chatbot anymore it’s edging into digital assistant territory. But with all this power, the real question is: will people use it, or get creeped out and shut it off?
Either way, it’s clear: AI isn’t just chatting anymore. It’s doing.

Midjourney
Midjourney’s new model is here and it’s wild

Model: v7, CC - leggie.co
Microsoft wasn’t the only one dropping updates this week Midjourney just rolled out its first new AI image model in nearly a year, and it’s a whole different beast.
Here’s what’s new in V7:
It launched quietly in alpha and brings a brand-new architecture under the hood sharper prompts, cleaner textures, and hands that actually look like hands.
Before you get started, you’ll need to rate ~200 images to help it learn your style. This personalizes what it makes for you. V7 is the first version with personalization turned on by default.
You can use it via Midjourney’s website or Discord. Just pick it from the version menu and go.
There are two versions: Turbo (faster, pricier) and Relax (slower, cheaper).
There’s also a new Draft Mode: it creates low-res previews 10x faster and cheaper then lets you enhance them when you’re happy.
Upscaling and retexturing aren’t available just yet for V7, but they’re expected soon.
According to CEO David Holz, V7 may need new prompting techniques. So yeah, it’s playtime.
Here’s what I think:
This is less of an upgrade and more of a reset. V7 feels like Midjourney hitting the gas again after a long pause. With video and 3D still cooking, this could just be their warm-up. But as always with image AI beautiful output, complicated baggage.
Amazon
Amazon’s now buying stuff for you even outside Amazon

Amazon’s trying something new: if it doesn’t sell what you’re looking for, it might just go get it for you.
Here’s what their new Buy for Me feature does:
It’s built into the Amazon Shopping app (beta version, U.S. only for now) and works when Amazon doesn’t carry the item you’re after.
If you find something from a brand’s own site in your search results, Amazon can now check out on that site for you.
You tap the item → hit “Buy for Me” → and Amazon completes the order using your saved details.
It all happens inside the Amazon app even though the item comes from a different store.
You’ll get a confirmation from the brand’s site, and they’ll handle the shipping, returns, and support.
Your info (like address and payment) stays encrypted, and Amazon can’t see your past orders from those other stores.
This all runs on Amazon’s AI stack (Bedrock, Claude, and more), quietly working in the background.
Here’s what I think:
This is Amazon turning itself into more than a store it's becoming your personal shopper. If you trust it enough, it’ll handle even the stuff it doesn’t sell. That’s a big shift. Feels like the future of e-commerce might not be about where you buy — just who does the clicking for you.
