Microsoft Found the Real Bottleneck in AI Transformation
Plus: Pinterest Wants AI to Redesign Your Room
Microsoft says its biggest AI gains came from redesigning work, not simply giving employees new tools, with selected supply-chain workflows cutting cycle times by up to 75%. Meanwhile, AI faces a very different reception in education, where most American adults surveyed believe it will do more harm than good, raising questions about where AI helps versus replaces valuable learning. And Pinterest is testing Restyle, an AI feature that lets users photograph their rooms, swap furniture, change styles, and visualize products before buying them, turning AI from an inspiration tool into a potential bridge between discovery and shopping.

For product teams moving at AI speed.

AI makes it easier to ship anything, even bad ideas. The hard part is knowing which ideas are worth building.
Jira Product Discovery brings your ideas, customer insights, and priorities into one place, so your team can decide what to ship and move forward with confidence.
Capture ideas, prioritize with evidence, and build living roadmaps your team can rally around—all while staying connected to delivery in Jira, so everyone can see what’s being built and why.
Better product decisions in the AI era.

AI adoption isn’t transformation. Microsoft learned the difference.

Microsoft has spent years rolling AI across its workforce. But giving 200,000 people AI tools wasn’t enough. Usage alone didn’t change how work actually happened. So Microsoft changed its approach. The results reveal what AI transformation really requires.
Microsoft stopped measuring success through AI adoption alone. Teams started with business outcomes, then found where AI mattered.
One sales group tripled priority AI use cases. Revenue per account manager rose 9.4%. Close rates increased 20%.
Microsoft learned that automating broken workflows changes little. Its supply-chain teams redesigned entire processes before adding AI agents.
More than 100 specialized agents now support those workflows. Selected cycle times dropped by as much as 75%.
The bigger opportunity wasn’t simply doing existing work faster. Microsoft calls it “Capability Add”: enabling work previously too difficult.
A nine-person product team worked alongside AI agents. They shipped an initial product release within just 35 days.
Microsoft’s biggest lesson may be the simplest. AI advantages come from organizational learning, not model access.
AI tools will eventually become available to almost everyone. That makes access a weak competitive advantage. The harder advantage is redesigning how your company works. Which decisions stay human? Which workflows should disappear? Where can AI create capabilities you never had? Those questions matter more than another AI license.
AI EDUCATION
AI is spreading everywhere. Schools may be where people draw the line.

AI is becoming normal at work. But Americans are less convinced about the classroom. A new NBC News Decision Desk Poll shows deep concern. Most adults expect AI to hurt education more. And resistance appears to be growing.
Most American adults surveyed expect AI to do more harm than good in education.
More adults now favor schools that avoid AI technology.
That creates an interesting divide around AI adoption. Faster adoption does not automatically create greater trust.
Schools face a different problem than workplaces. Education develops skills rather than simply maximizing output.
AI can make assignments easier to complete. That raises harder questions about whether students still learn.
The debate therefore goes beyond banning ChatGPT or embracing it. Schools must decide which thinking students should still practice themselves.
The bigger question is what education should optimize for. Efficiency and learning are not always the same thing.
AI probably won’t disappear from education. But adoption alone shouldn’t be the goal. The real challenge is deciding where friction still matters. Writing something yourself can be slow. Solving something yourself can be frustrating. That struggle may also be where learning happens. The best schools may not reject AI. They may teach students when not to use it.
UPGRADE
Pinterest wants AI to turn “I like this” into “I’ll buy this.”

Pinterest has always been good at inspiration. People save furniture, colors, and dream rooms. Then comes the difficult part. Will any of it actually look good at home? Pinterest thinks AI can answer that question.
Pinterest is testing Restyle in the U.S. and Canada.
Users photograph their room and redesign it using AI.
They can add furniture, artwork, plants, or new lighting.
Individual objects can also be replaced, removed, or edited.
Entire rooms can switch styles through simple text prompts.
Pinterest items can appear directly inside someone’s actual room.
That could shorten the journey from discovery to purchase.
The interesting part isn’t AI-generated interior design. We already have tools capable of doing that. Pinterest has something those tools don’t. It already knows what millions of people want. Now it can connect inspiration with visualization and shopping. That changes Pinterest from somewhere you collect ideas. It becomes somewhere you test decisions before spending money.
