Microsoft wants AI defending against AI

Microsoft says the physics of cybersecurity are changing. Attackers now move faster, cheaper, and at far greater scale. Human-led systems cannot match that speed alone. Microsoft’s answer is Project Perception. It turns scattered security signals into coordinated defensive action.

That shift sounds useful, but it changes the defender’s role. Security teams may increasingly supervise machines fighting other machines. The advantage will belong to systems offering speed and trustworthy judgment.

OpenAI studied more than 800,000 work-related ChatGPT messages. The results point to a deeper shift. AI is not only making existing tasks faster. It is changing who performs those tasks. That could reshape jobs before titles ever change.

The valuable worker may become the person who crosses them thoughtfully. The risk is confusing access with expertise. Doing more is useful. Knowing when to ask for help still matters.
