OpenAI Is Betting on Thailand’s Next AI Startups
PLUS: NVIDIA Is Building the Infrastructure Behind the AI Boom
AI is entering a new phase across infrastructure, startups, and information. NVIDIA is expanding its advantage beyond GPUs. OpenAI is helping Thai startups turn AI prototypes into products. Meanwhile, new research suggests chatbots may handle foreign propaganda better than search.
In today’s post:
OpenAI is betting on local AI startups
Nvidia’s real moat isn’t the GPU
AI chatbots may be better at misinformation than search

The next AI winners may come from local problems.

OpenAI just launched an accelerator in Thailand. But the bigger story is not the program. It is where AI competition appears to be moving. The frontier models are becoming widely available. Now, execution matters more than access.
OpenAI and Thailand’s government launched an eight-week startup accelerator.
Ten startups will focus on healthcare, wellness, and education.
Each team gets API credits, mentors, and technical guidance.
The goal is moving prototypes into real-world deployment.
Thailand already ranks among ChatGPT’s top 20 markets.
Codex usage there has grown more than 350-fold this year.
OpenAI is helping founders build around local knowledge and needs.
The interesting shift is from models to applications. Most founders will not compete by building better foundation models. They will compete by understanding specific problems better. Healthcare workflows. Classrooms. Languages. Local regulations. That knowledge becomes the moat. AI makes building easier. It does not make understanding customers easier. That may be where the next advantage lives.

Nvidia is turning AI infrastructure into a systems game.

Nvidia’s biggest advantage is starting to shift. For years, the story was simple. Nvidia had the best GPUs. Now Amazon and Google build competing chips. That should weaken Nvidia. But AI infrastructure is becoming much more complicated.
Nvidia is expanding beyond GPUs into complete AI systems.
Its Vera Rubin platform combines compute, memory, storage, and networking.
The new bottleneck is moving data efficiently between components.
Nvidia says Vera can improve some operations by roughly three times.
Better orchestration can reduce wasted energy and expensive idle compute.
OpenAI is attacking the same problem with tighter chip integration.
The competition is shifting from chips toward full-system efficiency.
Commoditization rarely kills an advantage. It usually moves the advantage somewhere else. GPUs may eventually become easier to replace. But operating massive AI infrastructure remains extremely difficult. That creates another layer of differentiation. The winner may not build the fastest chip. It may build the system where everything works together best. And Nvidia already understands that game.

The surprising misinformation advantage hiding inside AI chatbots

NPR tested major AI tools against foreign propaganda. The result challenged one of AI’s biggest fears. Researchers fed chatbots false narratives from Russia, China, and Iran. Most chatbots pushed back instead of repeating them. Search engines performed worse. And AI search summaries were often the weakest layer.
Chatbots correctly debunked false narratives about 75% of the time.
Traditional search results failed more often than chatbot responses.
AI search summaries performed worse than standalone AI chatbots.
Google’s AI Overview performed better than competing search summaries.
Bing’s AI summaries failed to debunk most tested narratives.
Source quality still mattered heavily across every tested AI system.
Asking AI to reconsider evidence often improved its second answer.
AI may change how people verify information. But the real advantage is not automatic truth. It is synthesis, comparison, and questioning at unusual speed. That makes AI useful as a starting point. It should never become the final authority. The smartest habit remains surprisingly old-fashioned. Check the source.
