What's New in AI?
Apple’s Siri VS Google’s Gemini Live
Siri 2.0? Apple Plans Major Voice Assistant Upgrade with Advanced AI
Apple is finally giving Siri the upgrade it desperately needs. According to Bloomberg, Apple is working on a new version powered by large language models (LLMs) the same tech behind tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini Live.
Here’s what you need to know:
A completely revamped Siri: Don’t mistake this for an update, it’s a full replacement of the Siri we use today. The new Siri will reportedly feel more natural, conversational, and smarter. It will combine advanced voice tech with Siri’s existing access to your apps, reminders, and contacts.
Release timeline: Don’t hold your breath because Apple isn’t rolling this out until spring 2026. Until then, Siri will lag behind competitors like Google and OpenAI in terms of natural language capabilities.
Third-party partnerships in the meantime: OpenAI’s ChatGPT is coming to Apple Intelligence this December. Apple is also reportedly exploring deals with Google and Anthropic to bring more AI tools to iPhones.
Apple’s playing the long game here. The revamped Siri could make it a leader again, but until then, it feels like Apple is just holding its ground while everyone else is racing ahead.
ChatGPT’s Live Camera
New Beta Hints at ChatGPT’s Live Camera Rollout
OpenAI might be gearing up to give ChatGPT something it’s been missing, eyes.
A new feature called Live Camera was recently spotted in the beta version of the ChatGPT app, and it could bring real-time visual recognition to the AI chatbot.
Here's what we know:
Adding "eyes" to ChatGPT: The feature appears to integrate video input with ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode, allowing the AI to analyze and respond to what it sees.
Real-time feedback: You could use your phone’s camera or webcam to get instant analysis of objects, locations, or even live situations.
Recognize objects and actions: In a demo earlier this year, ChatGPT identified a dog playing with a ball and remembered its name.
Assist with exploration: Another test showed someone using Live Camera to learn about landmarks while touring London.
Signs of a beta release: The code for Live Camera was discovered in version 1.2024.317 of the ChatGPT app. While there’s no official launch date, the beta hints it could roll out soon.
Safety warnings: OpenAI is reportedly advising users not to rely on Live Camera for critical tasks like navigation or health decisions.
Why it matters
This feature could take ChatGPT beyond conversations and text-based tasks, making it a more versatile tool for everyday use. Imagine pointing your phone at a recipe book and having ChatGPT explain it, or using it to identify plants on a hike.
Here’s hoping OpenAI drops more updates soon but this might just be the most exciting step forward for ChatGPT yet.

AI Backgrounds and HD Calls? Messenger Is Basically a Studio Now
Meta is giving Messenger some serious upgrades to make your chats and calls a lot more fun and functional.
Here’s what’s new:
HD video calls: High-definition calls are now the default for Wi-Fi and optional for cellular, so your video chats look sharper.
Voice isolation: A new feature filters out background noise for clearer conversations.
Voice and video messages: Missed a call? You can now leave a quick voice or video message, like digital voicemail.
Siri integration (iOS only): Just say, "Hey Siri, send a message to [name] on Messenger," and dictate your text. It’s perfect for when you’re multitasking.
AI backgrounds: Coming soon, you’ll be able to generate custom backgrounds during video calls by selecting "Backgrounds" under the effects menu.
These updates follow other recent features, like communities for group chats, large file sharing, and making end-to-end encryption the default.
Meta’s clearly doubling down on making Messenger more useful and engaging, whether you're catching up with friends or handling work calls. Got a missed call? Leave a video note. Need to spice up your background? Let AI do the heavy lifting. These updates are rolling out now and its time to give them a spin!
Brave Search’s AI chat follow up
Ask More, Search Less: Brave’s New AI Chat Redefines Search
Brave Search is stepping up its game with a new AI-powered chat feature. Now, you can ask follow-up questions based on your initial query, making it easier to dig deeper without starting a whole new search.
Here’s how it works:
When you search for something, Brave’s “Answer with AI” summaries give you a clear overview at the top of the results.
Starting today, you’ll see a chat bar underneath those summaries labeled “Ask a follow-up question.”
For example, if you search for “Christopher Nolan films,” Brave might list his notable works and a short bio. You can now follow up with something like, “Who are his most frequent collaborators?” and get an instant answer, complete with sources.
This blend of AI chat and traditional search bridges a gap that even Google hasn’t tackled yet. Google’s AI Overviews are helpful, but you can’t ask follow-ups without starting a brand-new search. Brave’s new feature combines the best of both worlds and contextual AI chats with the power of a full search engine.
Plus, Brave Search keeps your queries private. It doesn’t store your searches or build a profile on you, staying true to its privacy-first approach.
Brave says it’s handling over 36 million queries daily, with its AI tools generating more than 11 million summaries each day. This new feature makes Brave Search not just a solid Google alternative but a serious competitor.
Why not give it a shot and see how it handles your burning follow-up questions?
