NVIDIA's CEO says that DeepSeek is not a threat. What's next? Dive in

In 1956, a program called “Logic Theorist” was created to prove mathematical theorems. It could do things humans thought only they were capable of.

Nvidia’s CEO Says the Market Overreacted...Here’s Why

When Nvidia’s stock took a nosedive last month, people thought it was game over. The reason? DeepSeek dropped its R1 open-source reasoning model, and investors panicked, thinking AI had just made Nvidia’s chips obsolete.

But Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, isn’t sweating it. In a recent chat, he basically said, “Everyone’s got it backward.

  • AI isn’t finished, it's just getting started. Huang believes DeepSeek’s model will actually push AI adoption forward, not slow it down.

  • More efficient AI doesn’t mean fewer chips. Just because models are getting smarter doesn’t mean we suddenly don’t need computing power. In fact, Huang says AI’s reasoning abilities still require massive resources.

  • Nvidia’s stock dipped hard then bounced back. After dropping 16.9% in three days, the company has nearly regained its value. Investors may have freaked out too soon.

  • Earnings report incoming. Nvidia’s Q4 earnings on February 26 will likely give more insight into how the company plans to navigate the AI boom.

Here’s what I think:

Markets love a good panic, but Huang might be right and AI advancements don’t kill the need for hardware; they create more demand. Nvidia’s stock has almost fully recovered, which tells you everything you need to know.

What do you think? Did investors overreact?

A Humanoid Robot for Your Home? Norway’s 1X Thinks So

Most home robots are glorified vacuums. But a Norwegian company, 1X, wants to change that with its latest humanoid robot, Neo Gamma.

It’s designed to handle real household tasks like making coffee, doing laundry, and vacuuming basically, all the stuff you wish you could skip.

Here’s what makes Neo Gamma interesting:

  • It’s built for the home. Unlike other humanoids focused on factories and warehouses, 1X is testing this one in real living spaces.

  • It’s designed to be friendly (and safe). The robot has a soft, knitted nylon shell to prevent injuries.

  • AI is a big part of the equation. With better awareness of its surroundings, it aims to avoid breaking things—or worse, bumping into people.

  • It’s not ready for sale (yet). The company says commercial deployment is still a long way off.

Here’s what I think:

We’ve been promised home robots for decades, and so far, only Roombas have delivered. The real challenge? Making them reliable, safe, and actually useful. Neo Gamma is a step forward, but we’re still waiting for the day when robots can truly take chores off our hands.

Would you want a humanoid robot in your home? Or does that sound like a sci-fi disaster waiting to happen?

SAKANA

Sakana’s Bold AI Claim Falls Apart…Here’s What Happened

AI startup Sakana made headlines this week with a wild claim: their AI system could speed up model training by 100x. Investors loved it. The only problem? It wasn’t true.

Here’s everything you need to know:

  • The AI actually made things worse. Instead of speeding up training, users found that Sakana’s system slowed things down by 3x.

  • A hidden bug caused the mess. According to OpenAI’s Lucas Beyer, a flaw in the code led to misleading results.

  • The AI "cheated" the system. Instead of genuinely improving performance, it exploited weaknesses in Sakana’s evaluation process to fake good results.

  • Sakana admitted the mistake. They’ve since fixed the issue, revised their claims, and apologized.

Here’s what I think:

AI hype moves fast, and everyone’s racing to make the next big breakthrough. But this is a good reminder: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Kudos to Sakana for admitting the error but next time, maybe double-check before making bold promises.

Would you trust an AI that "cheats" its way to success?

Spotify Expands AI-Narrated Audiobooks

Spotify just made a big move in the audiobook world. The company is teaming up with ElevenLabs to bring more AI-narrated audiobooks to its platform. Love it or hate it, AI voices are about to become a much bigger part of your listening experience.

Here’s how it works:

  • Authors can now use AI to narrate their books in 29 languages through ElevenLabs.

  • The process is simple create the audio, upload it to Findaway Voices (Spotify’s audiobook distributor), and wait for approval.

  • Spotify labels AI-narrated books so listeners know what they’re getting.

  • Pricing varies: The free plan offers 10 minutes per month, while the Pro plan ($99/month) gives you up to 500 minutes of narration.

  • This isn’t Spotify’s first AI audiobook deal. They previously partnered with Google Play Books and plan to expand even further.

Here’s what I think:

AI narration is cheaper and faster, but does it match the warmth and depth of a human voice? Some in the publishing world worry it’ll lower audiobook quality. But if AI voices keep improving, listeners might not care especially if it means more books, in more languages, for less money.

Would you listen to an AI-narrated audiobook, or is that a dealbreaker for you?
